It didn\u2019t totally eff up my meal planning, but I\u2019m certainly not earning any gold stars this week.<!--more--><\/p>\n<hr>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\">Grocery Shopping = $148.60<\/h6>\n<p>$76.48 for my Monday morningTrader Joe\u2019s run, plus $8.23 at Whole Foods for Challah and cookies to bribe my toddler with. And a midweek Target run for random staples $63.89.<\/p>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\">Take Out = $117.19<\/h6>\n<p>$1.30 Panera, $8.47 Chick-fil-A husbands lunch, $15.00 Starbucks app reload, $55 Pasta House (regrettable), $31.48 Boathouse Sunday lunch in Forest Park for lunch, followed by coffee $5.94.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h6>Monday Lunch<\/h6>\n<p>Our toddler was in preschool today, and I had a babysitter for the baby in the morning so I could run errands and do all the things unencumbered. My husband made himself a sandwich and I had leftovers when I returned home.<\/p>\n<h6>Monday Dinner<\/h6>\n<p>Chicken Stir-Fry with Jasmine Rice. The chicken breasts were cooked a few days ago, the stir-fry vegetables from Trader Joe\u2019s (together in a packet with the sauce), and the rice freshly made.<\/p>\n<h6>Tuesday Lunch<\/h6>\n<p>Today was a sandwich day.<\/p>\n<h6>Tuesday Dinner<\/h6>\n<p>Our week is a bit thrown off, so today was my big chicken breast prep night instead of Wednesday. I made a lemon-rosemary-butter pan sauce, roasted broccoli, and roasted fingerling potatoes.<\/p>\n<h6>Wednesday Lunch<\/h6>\n<p>I had a big bowl of chicken noodle soup that I shared with the baby. My husband had a late morning appointment to get his car serviced, so he grabbed Chick-fil-A on the way home. But as soon as the baby got a whiff of his waffles fries, it was game-over. My husband had to share at least half of his fries with the baby.<\/p>\n<h6>Wednesday Dinner<\/h6>\n<p>Tonight was our pasta bolognese night. Both kids were covered in sauce and needed an immediate bath. Bathing them together in one fell swoop is definitely a perk of having them 18 months apart.<\/p>\n<h6>Thursday Lunch<\/h6>\n<p>Everyone had chicken noodle soup for lunch. Our toddler is still a bit messy with soup, but I admire her determination to eat properly. She needed a full outfit change afterwards though.<\/p>\n<h6>Thursday Dinner<\/h6>\n<p>I had an evening commitment, so I made sure that my husband and toddler had chicken with the lemon-rosemary-butter sauce, green beans, and mac and cheese to heat up in my absence. I prepped the baby a feast of tofu, cumin-cinnamon carrots, zucchini, potatoes, and roasted tomatoes (I\u2019m really proud of how it came out, may or may not have texted a pic to my friends\u2026.).<\/p>\n<h6>Friday Lunch<\/h6>\n<p>The baby had his tofu and veggies mix, the toddler and I split chicken noodle soup. My husband made himself a few turkey sandwiches and then we left the house for several hours. We were having our floor vents restained and sanded. This is a very dusty and smelly process, and should have gotten done prior to moving in, but the hardwood floor contractor dropped the ball. We\u2019re suffering through it for the next few days because it needs to get done.<\/p>\n<h6>Shabbat Dinner<\/h6>\n<p>Well, the fumes were so intense that keeping the kids out of the kitchen \/ living room was a priority. We decided in desperation to go to the Pasta House for dinner. It was so terrible. I had eggplant parm with spaghetti, my husband had lasagna, my toddler got mac and cheese. The baby was the only one who thoroughly enjoyed the meal. $55 with tip. When we got home, we were pleased to discover the kids rooms were spared from the fumes, but my husband and I decided to camp out in the guest room for the weekend.<\/p>\n<h6>Saturday Lunch<\/h6>\n<p>I heated up frozen Indian meals in the oven. The kids had PB&amp;J.<\/p>\n<h6>Saturday Dinner<\/h6>\n<p>I had another evening commitment, so I set up my husband and the kids with chicken + lemon-rosemary-butter sauce, green beans, and rice. The baby still had some tofu and veggies left. We drove to Forest Park (we are literally a 7 minute drive) and walked around for an hour or so. For lunch, the Boathouse was serving sandwiches through a SugarFire food truck. I got a pulled pork sandwich and a salad, my husband got a breakfast egg sandwich and home-fries. We shared with both kids. $31.48 with tip, and then we each got a coffee before embarking on another 90 minute walk $5.94 with tip. This morning \/ afternoon was a blast, it was one of those days that makes you feel incredibly grateful to be alive.<\/p>\n<h6>Sunday Dinner<\/h6>\n<p>One of our good friends from DC is good friends with another family living in St. Louis, he set us up on a family date. They live 8 minutes away and have three kids, we went over to their home for dinner. They were kind enough to host us, they served an Asian inspired salad, grilled shrimp, and carrot-sweet-potato soup. Delicious and very fun. We\u2019ve done a terrible job of making friends since we\u2019ve moved.
